An Aotearoa born artist currently based in Naarm (Melbourne).
Working within the formal and conceptual framework of contemporary drawing, McAlpine combines technical faculty with an interest in the ‘expanded operations’ of drawing, including performative actions, sculptural elements and photography. McAlpine’s work, usually steeped in mirth and absurdity, often seeks to deal with the idiosyncrasies of modern living, and more broadly, the human psyche.
We were honoured to commission Harry for these extraordinary pieces for our pop up shop in Collingwood. Harry holds a special place in the W!NK extended whānau growing up with Robbie in Aotearoa and continuing that special kinship here in Australia.
